The first Norwegian-produced livestock cabinet for semi-trailers has been developed in collaboration with Hydal Transportsystemer AS (Hytrans), T. N. Vangs Mekaniske Verksted AS and the end user Fatland AS.

The collaboration has resulted in a finished product that can accommodate more than 40 cattle on two floors. Compared to the current standard, which can accommodate around 26 animals in total, this is a major improvement and allows for even more efficient transportation. The height of each floor is 1.57 meters.

Eldar Tranøy, CEO of MCE, is pleased with the result and proudly shows off the solution that has been developed:

- What is unique about this product is that it is possible to have cattle on two floors. Normally, there are only cattle on one floor, where you usually have cattle on the first floor and the possibility of small cattle on the second floor.

For MCE, the floor profile of the trailer was an important aspect. A smart solution had to be found to lower the height of the floor to create more space. Hytrans, which supplies aluminum profiles to both the transport and offshore industries, was commissioned to develop a completely new type of floor profile that was safer, more cost-effective and solved the space challenge in a good way.

- There is a height restriction that must be taken into account when producing such livestock enclosures. The animals must have a minimum height during transportation to ensure that they are safe and have enough space," explains Tranøy.

Brand new flooring solution has been developed by Hytrans in collaboration with MCE

The special aluminum floor plank can withstand high weight and has grooves that give the animals better stability and safer transport. Tranøy explains that this was particularly important in the development of the new semi-trailer:

- " With the floor profile from Hytrans, we achieved our goal. The entire end product provides great value for both driver and owner as more animals can be transported; it is easier to maintain; and they get a safer and more efficient transportation of the animals.

Sales engineer at Hytrans, Andre Grindhaug, is pleased with the result and points to the good cooperation between the two western Norwegian companies:

- It has been a good process, as it always is when Hytrans and MCE work together, and we are confident that we have delivered a product that works and solves MCE's and the end customer's challenges. This is a unique solution that we are proud of and it is a good example of how we can customize profile systems according to the customer's own wishes and needs.

The livestock cabinet was created in collaboration with MCE, Hytrans, Fatland and T.N. Vangs Mek.

In addition to the floor profile, Hytrans has supplied all the aluminum profiles used in the development of this new, Norwegian-made livestock cabinet. With the profiles in place, the semi-trailer is ready for use, and MCE manager Eldar Tranøy is delighted with the excellent collaboration:

- It's completely unique. It is virtually 100% Norwegian-made and offers major benefits for both driver and owner. Such collaborations contribute to increased local and national value creation.
